ATHLETIC ORGANISATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF XANTHI Since the beginning of the founding and operation of the Athletic Organisation of the Municipality of Xanthi, its aim has been to construct athletic centres, gyms and areas that will cover the exercise needs of the locals, and especially the young, as well as promoting the ancient Greek spirit. It has organised programs and events such as: Á. The A.O held group athletics programs in co-operation with the General Secretariat of Athletic. 1. Exercise and the Child 2. Exercise and the Woman 3. Exercise for the elderly, which were held in A.O’s athletic centres and gyms. Â. Receiving of the Olympic Flame in the city’s central square. Ã. Participation, May 23, 1996, in the Greek Conference of Athletic Organisations held in Thessaly. Ä. The Final Game of the Armed Forces took place on June 10, 1996, under the aegis of the Athletic Organisation.
